Free-to-use football platform
Mondongo is a free-to-use sports utility from BernardoApp. Although it is primarily a football app, it also features events from other sporting fields such as basketball or baseball. Although only available in the Spanish language, the interface is intuitive enough for global football fans to appreciate. It shows you what games are available for the day, as well as the latest news about football.
In terms of app layout and design, Mondongo looks suspiciously a lot like Tornado Play, with their main difference being the title card on the home screen. Other than that, both apps mostly work fine.
Receive the latest football updates
What makes Mondongo intuitive for users is that it offers the information you need as soon as you open the app. Its minimalistic layout makes it easy to see different sections of the app. For example, Eventos Destacados show the featured event of the day. This often contains major league games, including necessary details like the teams playing, the venue, and the schedule.
Other than that, the app also includes a set of television channels through the Canales Fijos or fixed channels section. The app doesn’t stream them, though. Instead, you are redirected to these broadcast companies’ websites or streaming platforms. While originally including channels that broadcast football events, some of these links are offline at certain times. At the bottom of the app is the daily event schedule.
As mentioned, the app only comes in Spanish. The lack of support for other languages can be a turnoff for non-Spanish-speaking users, although the simple texts and the art cards are enough. Most of the time, updates are as simple as the time then the names of the competing teams. Aside from a couple of banner ads on the page, there are no pop-ups that negatively affect the experience.
A minimalistic app for sports fans
Overall, the simple and straightforward layout makes Mondongo a nifty tool to keep. The app being mostly in Spanish is not a big deal, since the name of the teams and the schedule is globally understandable. Aside from the Featured Events and the live schedule on the app, the Fixed Channels that contain intermittently unavailable links are the only weak part of this app. For football fans, this is recommended.
